Mastering It All from ADHD Highs to Social Anxiety
How Did We Become The Neurodivergent Couple?
According to Amanda -
Sometimes we fall for someone who is absolutely perfect. A swirling kiss of fading sunlight halloos with celestial authority, "Here! Here is the one predestined to be your mate." On the other hand, sometimes it is our reclusive pathology who spots someone across a crowded waiting room (or while doom scrolling through an online dating site). Similarly, it cheerfully chirps, "I want to annoy that one for the rest of our natural lives!" Thus, an ill-advised love affair is born. Consequently, fifteen years ago, I met up with a guy from Yahoo! Personals who has been my unlimited source of dopamine (and adrenaline - he's a generous enabler) ever since.
According to Chris -
"I gotta follow that?! Ugh. It seemed like a good idea at the time, I guess. I don't know. Furthermore, didn't you ask me to grill the chicken for dinner?"
Back off ladies. He's all mine.
Opposites don't so much as attract as accrete.
There are forces of nature that draw us to one another. Indeed much like how the primordial Earth and the planet Theia were drawn to each other - in a burst of fire, fury, and passion, our beautiful world was born.
Our story is like the time(s) Amanda thought she had appendicitis and the doctor sent her to the emergency room with Chris. And they waited and waited and waited for her imaging. And she was in a lot of pain and was contemplating whether she would qualify for the insanity plea, and the doctor came in and said -
"You have a kidney stone that's coming down from your left kidney. There's one in the right one, too, that hasn't broken free yet, but you should pass them no problem."
That is the binding love that Chris and Amanda share. Like fatty deposits and calcium, they have coalesced to form the spiky, oxylate-dense ball of ouch and ruin raking its way through life's urethra.
(Eventually, she did pass both stones, by the way. Both times with a sneeze. Bless you, indeed!)
